Box 1269 Bonners Ferry, ID 83805 Ph# (208) 267-3519 Fax (208) 267-2960 Kootenai Tribe of Idaho Position: Administrative Tribal Air Technician/Administrative Assistant Wages: $12.00/hr to start. Hours: Full time position (40 hours/week) and 1 - 2 evenings per month. Open Date: Wednesday March 27 th , 2019 Closing Date: Friday, May 31st , 2019 at 12:00 p.m. The Administrative Assistant/Tribal Air Technician shall provide a variety of secretarial support functions to the Environmental, Fish & Wildlife, and Administrative Departments; will also assist with the Tribe's Air Quality monitoring program. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Possess computer skills to develop a variety of meeting minutes, correspondence, reports and other documents in proper form with correct spelling and punctuation and the ability to transcribe notes and recordings following meetings. Create and maintain electronic and hard copy mailing lists, including address labeling equipment. Establish and maintain project files, including correspondence, reports, data, and other documents, and provide meeting notices as well as follow up on media publications and articles. Assist in making meeting arrangements for the organizations and coordinating refreshments associated with meetings (meetings may be held at locations other than KTOI Headquarters - coordinating lunches, breaks, etc.). Assist in distributing correspondence and preparation of meeting materials and setting up equipment (laptop/projector/conference telephones) for meetings. Manage website and create material for display boards & other displays/pamphlets for public outreach (i.e. fair booth, newspaper articles, etc.). Coordinate fair booth set-up and break down. Operate and maintain the ambient air quality monitoring site (training will be provided). The Tribal Air Technician will perform field operation and maintenance of the air monitoring site in all weather conditions, and handle subsequent management of air quality data. This work will be performed in accordance with the EPA's quality standards. Perform environmental health duties. Check air quality conditions daily and calculate the Air Quality Index; prepare Environmental Health Notices in the event of unhealthy air quality; participate in webinars and conference calls. Assist with the Agricultural Smoke Management Program. Evaluate and archive data, and prepare reports. Serve as back up to Tribal Receptionist including skills to screen and route all incoming phone calls and to electronically log and route all incoming mail. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a high school graduate; a candidate with a business school diploma or prior secretarial experience preferred. Must possess good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks as they are assigned. Must have a working knowledge of normal clerical functions and procedures. A candidate who is able to work independently and is self-motivated will be considered a preferred candidate. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and Power Point). Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to travel during regular business hours in varied weather conditions. Must be able to be insured under the Tribal auto insurance policy. Must have the ability to carry 30 pounds in a "field environment" in varied weather conditions. A candidate knowledgeable about the Kootenai River Watershed and Air Quality will be considered a preferred candidate. Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing.
