The American Red Cross continues to experience an emergency blood shortage that has caused the blood supply to drop to the lowest post-summer level in at least six years.
Salmonella outbreak linked to Idaho farm
The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg infections linked to whole, fresh onions. FDA’s traceback investigation is ongoing but has identified ProSource Produce, LLC (also known as ProSource Inc.) of Hailey, Idaho, and Keeler Family Farms of Deming, New Mexico, as suppliers of potentially contaminated whole, fresh onions imported from the State of Chihuahua, Mexico.
PHD offering booster doses of Pfizer, Moderna and J&J
The Panhandle Health District supports authorization by the Food and Drug Administration and the recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to administer booster doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. Booster doses of those vaccines are available now for specific individuals, in addition to booster doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine the agencies approved last month.
Idaho mayors earn $65,000 during walking challenge
A record number of Idaho mayors participated in the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health’s annual Mayor’s Walking Challenge, earning $65,500 for their communities.
