Remains found in Kootenai River identified
The skeletal remains found in the Kootenai River on a gravel bar Oct. 12 have been identified as a Libby man who had been missing for more than a year. According to press release issued Oct. 26 by the Sheriff's Office in Lincoln County, Montana, the Boundary County coroner has confirmed the identity as William "Bill" Steven Tebby. Investigators of the Sheriff's Office notified family members immediately following the notification by officials. The coroner has not yet announced the cause and manner of death.
Preliminary hearing for Ingraham rescheduled
The preliminary hearing for Skyler Ingraham, 20 on Oct. 23 in the Magistrate Court in Bonners Ferry has been rescheduled for Dec. 18. Judge Justin W. Julian presided at the hearing and it was agreed to waive the defendant's right to a timely preliminary hearing. Ingraham is currently being held in the Boundary County Jail on a felony charge for failure to report the death of Brent Barron, his uncle, to the authorities. Barron's body was found near Roman Nose Lakes a month ago. In an earlier press release from the Boundary County Sheriff's Office, it was reported that Barron was shot following an argument between he and Ingraham. Barron's death is currently being investigated as a homicide. No other information has been released at this time.
Shopko to come to Bonners Ferry
The Boundary Economic Development Council and the Bonners Ferry Urban Renewal Agency are pleased to announce that a development group from Utah has purchased property on the South Hill in Bonners Ferry for a retail development. According to the developer, construction will start in early 2016 for a Shopko Hometown store, a retail format that is aimed at the needs of smaller communities.

Badgers boys soccer season comes to an end
The BFHS boys soccer lost to Emmett 5-to-2 on Oct. 23, thus eliminating the Badgers from the state tournament and ending their season.

Hollis Duane Brooks
Hollis Duane Brooks died peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife on October 14, 2015. Hollis, who in two months would have been 92, had been hospitalized with flu and severe heart failure before being told his illness was terminal and being placed under Hospice care. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Copeland Cemetery with interment to follow.

Two seats on the Moyie Springs City Council will be voted on in the upcoming election, with four candidates filed to run for the positions.
Cross-country teams prepare for districts
The cross country regular season came to a close last week as teams make final preparations for district competitions coming this week. The BFHS team traveled to Kellogg for the Ben Castro Invitational at Pinehurst Golf Course on Oct. 15. Golf course meets, such as the one at Pinehurst, tend to be flat courses with fast times and Kellogg’s home invite was no exception. The meet drew many small schools such as Potlach, Priest River, and Kootenai, but also attracted 4A Lakeland. Due to late start times and many teams having long travel distances, Kellogg made the wise choice to run all high school boys in one race and all high school girls in another.
Lady Badgers soccer season comes to a close
The BFHS girl's soccer season has come to a close as the Lady Badgers were defeated 5-to-0 against Coeur d'Alene Charter in their second round in districts. The Lady Badgers had initially won their first round 1-to-0 against St. Maries.
Local man charged in MT case in custody
Bonners Ferry resident Thomas Wehner, 44, is being held in the Boundary County jail on a Montana warrant after being arrested on Oct. 15 by deputies from the Boundary County Sheriff's Office. His warrant was issued for violating the terms of his release out of Cascade County. His Montana bond has been set at $150 thousand At this time, he has not been charged with any crimes in Boundary County. Wehner will be held in Boundary County until transportation is arranged to return him to Cascade County. Wehner made his bail of $100 thousand on Oct. 2 and was released from the Cascade County Jail after being charged in Great Falls. Wehner was charged with distribution and felony possession of dangerous drugs after a dead man, identified as Edward Hyatt, was found in Great Falls, Mont. on Oct. 1. Wehner appeared in Cascade County Justice Court after confessing he had provided Hyatt with methamphetamine in exchange for Vicodin.
Elizabeth Serene Stephens
Elizabeth Serene Stephens (Evans) passed away at her home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:15 a.m., due to heart failure while being comforted by her husband, Cecil Stephens. Serene was 73 years old.

The BFHS boys soccer team defeated Priest River 4-to-2 during District Playoffs on Oct. 13. The Badgers were seeded second and played the third seeded team. The score at halftime was 1-to1 with Bonners Ferry playing evenly against Priest River, before finally dominating in the second half.

Gladys Laverne Swartz
Gladys Laverne Swartz went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2015. She was born December 17, 1922 in Homestead Montana, the fifth of ten children of Orin W. Root and Nellie (nee Neisinger) Root. Gladys spent her early childhood and attended school near Monroe Washington. In 1948 she met and married Warren Swartz and they would have celebrated their sixty-seventh wedding anniversary this November. They had two daughters, Rose Mary (Carl) Eby of Snohomish, Washington, and Rebekah (Becky) Swartz of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Arrest made in connection with body
BONNERS FERRY — Further developments have been made in connection to the case of the remains found near Roman Nose Lakes. According to a press release from the Boundary County Sheriff's Office issued on Oct. 14, Post Falls resident Skyler Ingraham, 20, has been arrested by the Post Falls Police Department for his involvement in the death of Brent Barron of Post Falls. A warrant was issued out by Boundary County on Oct. 9. Ingraham is the nephew of Barron.
John Barry Harper, Sr.
John Barry Harper Sr., 73, of Bonners Ferry, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at Boundary Community Hospital. He was surrounded by family and friends.

The Badgers football team struggled offensively Friday against visiting St. Maries High School, falling to the Lumberjacks 21-0.
Badgers deal heavy blow to Orifino
The Bonners Ferry boys soccer team dealt Orofino a heavy blow in a home league game with a 7-to-1 victory. "It was an easy game," said Coach Wayne Wilkerson, "It was against the team struggling with numbers." Orofino doesn't have a complete boys team; several girls play on the team as well. Wilkerson decided to use the opportunity to have all his players practice. "We tried to make it a challenge for ourselves," said Wilkerson, "We limited ourselves in different ways."
Bonners Ferry man arrested in Montana
BONNERS FERRY — A Bonners Ferry man is being charged in Montana with distribution and felony possession of dangerous drugs after a dead body was found on a lawn in Great Falls, Mont. Forty-year old Thomas Wehner appeared in the Cascade County Justice Court after confessing that he had provided a man with methamphetamine.
Post Falls man identified as victim
A Post Falls man has been identified as the alleged victim in Boundary County. The body found two weeks ago in the Roman Nose Lake area in Boundary County has been identified as 53-year-old Post Falls resident Brent D. Barron, according to a press release issued Oct. 2 by the Boundary County Sheriff's Office. The Boundary County Sheriff's Office released the identity of the victim after family members were notified of the death earlier that day.
