Timberlake tops BFHS for dual meet title
The Bonners Ferry High School wrestling lost two dual meets last week, falling to Lakeland at home Thursday and losing at Timberlake Friday.
Manuel Naccarato (145 pounds) and Isaiah Shottanana (220 and 285) recorded pins in both dual meets for the Badgers, but the Tigers’ 44-33 team win gave Timberlake the regular-season Intermountain League title.
“We lost two tough duals last week, while fighting some illness and injury and we were not at full strength. But the kids that wrestled wrestled hard and showed us good things,” BFHS assistant coach Kevin Campbell said. “I think we are getting ready to peak at the right time, going into districts and state.
“This is what we work all year for. We lost the league dual title to Timberlake last week. And that stings a little,” he added. “But now we focus on winning the District tournament, and heading to State. I think these kids will be ready on Saturday.”
The Badgers compete in the 3A district meet on Saturday at Lakeland High School. The top three finishers in each weight class qualify for the Feb. 28 and 29 state meet in Nampa. Wildcard qualifiers also are a possibility.
