Pearl Theater planning on reopening

| April 6, 2021 10:57 AM

The members of the Pearl Theater board have had a challenging year facing the strains of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they remain optimistic and are looking ahead to when the venue can reopen once again and bring great entertainers, events and shows back to the community.

With the possibility of reopening later this year, they are working to revitalize their working subcommittees and enlisting volunteers to help.

Board president Skye Dimmitt is chair of the Pearl Membership Committee and is currently conducting an audit of current members. She is also planning a membership drive, with details to be presented to the board meeting in June.

Those interested in becoming Pearl members can learn more at https://thepearltheater.org/becoming-a-member.

When you are ready to become a member, email PearlMembers@gmail.com or call (208) 610-2846 with your information.

Treasurer Jessica Tingley chairs the finance/fundraising Committee, and she is working on two fronts; to develop another fun community fundraising event to take place this spring, and to find someone in the community willing to help write Pearl grant applications.

If you have experience with grant writing and have the time to assist, contact Jessica at PearlTreas@gmail.com.

Secretary Heather Olson is chair of the booking committee, and she is seeking suggestions for shows, bands or other acts the community would like to see play the Pearl Theater.

You can email her directly Sec.BF.Pearl@gmail.com or share the contact email BookingThePearl@gmail.com with your favorite band or act who is interested in performing at The Pearl Theater.

Mike Weland is Pearl publicity chair, and he is seeking letters and/or articles from members and those who have memories or anecdotes to share that can be included in a monthly newsletter to be brought back by early summer.

Submissions and queries from those who would like to volunteer on the publicity committee can be sent to Publicity.BF.Pearl@gmail.com and are welcome any time.

"Send us a note about what The Pearl Theater means to you," Weland said. "We are excited to hear your stories!"

Sue Wilson is chair of the Pearl Facilities Committee and she is planning volunteer work sessions to tackle myriad little maintenance and grounds upkeep projects as well as seeking quotes from contractors to attend to some of the venerable old buildings' more immediate needs.

To get involved, call (208) 610-2846 or email info@thepearltheater.org.

An application for those interested in volunteering is available at https://www.thepearltheater.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Volunteer-Application-Final.pdf and can be filled out and given to any Pearl board member or mailed to The Pearl Theater, P.O. Box 1888, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.

"As always, we need your help to continue bringing the performing arts to our community," Dimmitt said. "With your help and support, we look forward to bringing the performing arts to the beautiful Idaho Panhandle for many years to come. Thank you!"
