| December 9, 2021 1:00 AM

Animals, plants, insects, and diseases can sometimes impede reforestation, wildlife habitat, or other forest stewardship goals. Current Topics in Forest Health is an annual program that updates forest owners, foresters, and others on methods to improve forest health.

Topics to be covered this year include: Mycorrhizae and their Role in Forest Health, Current Status of Pheromones as a Tool in Reducing Mortality from Bark Beetles and other Forest Insects, Assessing Frost Damage in Trees and Distinguishing it from Insects and Disease, Bark Beetle Issues to be Ready for after the 2021 Drought,

Using Goats to Manage Shrubs in Forest Plantations, Tree Responses to Extended Droughts, Weeds, Herbicides and Drought, and Update on New Herbicides for Forestry.

Due to COVID precautions, the 2021 offering of Current Topics in Forest Health will be split into two, three-hour webinars on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 16-17. Each of the two sessions for the program is eligible for three Idaho pesticide license recertification credits, three Society of American Foresters continuing forestry education credits, and three Idaho Pro-Logger continuing education credits.

There is no fee for this online session, but to prepare for the program, please go to www.uidaho.edu/CurrentTopics to register by Friday, Dec. 10. For technical assistance registering or accessing course resources, please contact Audra Cochran (audrac@uidaho.edu). For program content questions, contact Chris Schnepf (cschnepf@uidaho.edu).
