BONNERS FERRY — Boys basketball played aggressively against district rival Timberlake high school and won 64-53; badgers play against Priest River on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The winner will play in state competitions.

The first quarter ended at 12-8, with badgers leading early on. In the second quarter, badgers kept a short lead of 26-21 before returning from halftime; the third quarter saw the game tied at 41-41. Badgers were able to increase their point differential significantly after rallying to defeat Timberlake.

According to Head Coach Nathan Williams, all the players are exhausted after playing 5 games in 7 days. Even with all the back-to-back matches, the players are warriors and persevering.

Blake Rice led the team in scoring with 18-points, Ridge Williams followed with 15-point and

Hayden Stockton with 9-points.

“I think we attacked the rim pretty well,” Williams said, “we need to keep working on our defensive rebounding.”

The game was much more physical, with both defenses making sure the other was fighting for every point.

“I thought we did a lot of hustle plays, and it was more physical tonight more than it was all season,” Williams said.

Williams overall thought the team did well, and although the players are playing through multiple games within a week, they delivered for their team and left everything on the floor.

“I thought the boys did really well,” Williams said.
