Vote yes to fund our local schools

| February 25, 2021 1:00 AM

The upcoming school levy, to be put before the voters on March 9 is something it would be smart for all of us to support.

Our present level of funding allows for only a bare minimum for a public education. Four day school week. Minimal arts program. Our Boundary County educators and school administrators need to basically reinvent physics and arithmetic each levy cycle, when we ask them to do, once again, more with less.

The state of Idaho, charged with educating our young citizens, doesn't properly. Spending its energies scraping the bottom of the rusty funding barrel, it comes up short every time. There are better ways to get our kids smart, and we and our state have the resources and tools to get it done. But for today, our one option is to support our local educators at this minimal level, and let everyone who cares about kids breathe another biennial sigh of relief when the levy passes.

Vote yes for the funding of our local schools.
