Loretta Elizabeth (Liz) Jones passed away on Jan. 2, 2021, at Sunset Home Assisted Living facility near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Graveside services will be held at Grandview Cemetery on Jan. 9, 2021.

Liz was born on Feb. 23, 1934 in Cedonia, Wash., to Alfred Frank and Lindaett Reed Price Rail. She attended schools in Kettle Falls and Valley, Wash.. She was a proud graduate of Valley High School in 1953.

She met and married Leon Dwaine Jones of Grandview, Wash., in Urbanette, Ark., on Nov. 4, 1954. After Leon was discharged from the U.S. Air Force, they settled in Washington state. Two children were born to Liz and Leon, Sherrie in 1959 and Kelly in 1962.

Liz worked as a waitress, grocery store and restaurant manager, cannery worker and tied fishing flies for a bait company. In 1977, the family moved to Bonners Ferry to be near Liz’s sister and husband (Sharon and Cleo Bennett). Liz enjoyed retirement while Leon worked for Boundary County School District’s bus shop. She enjoyed raising her large vegetable garden and flowers, canning her produce and being a grandma to her three grandchildren. Liz was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Liz’s biggest enjoyment was her family and she endured the loneliness of losing the love of her life just as they were to begin their retirement together in 1994. She kept busy with her grandchildren passing on the love of gardening, working puzzles and playing an exciting game of double solitaire.

Liz is survived by her son, Kelly Jones; and daughter, Sherrie (Wally) Cossairt; grandchildren, Kyle Cossairt, Post Falls, Bryan (Ashley) Cossairt, Missoula, Mont., and Sabrena (Jeff) Howard, Post Falls; great-grandchildren, Branson Leon and Grace Elizabeth Howard, Post Falls, Idaho; siblings Midge (Melvin) Dugger, Spokane, Wash., Lois (Bob) Thompson, Valley, Wash., Judy Leliefeld, Loon Lake, Wash.; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Rail, Chewelah, Wash., and Betty Rail, Priest River, Idahho; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon Jones; and siblings, Freda Tomsha, Leroy Rail, Edward Rail, Ann Fortner, Doris Smith, Richard Rail, Sharon Bennett, and Bud Rail.
