The Panhandle Café was opened in 1977 by Wes Dietz. Dietz purchased the restaurant space, on the corner of Main Street and Kootenai Street, which had been Doug’s Litehouse, Freddy’s Café, and of course, Don’s Café. The Panhandle served thousands of meals into 2015, when it finally closed its doors. Today, you can eat a great Mexican dinner in the building.

This “Crush” “special of the day” chalk board was recently donated to the museum. What great deals were offered on the “Patty Melt” and the “BLT.”
