Kootenai River Run’s 2020 race may have been canceled due to Covid-19 last year, but it’s back in 2021 and bigger than ever. This year we’ve joined Kootenai River Days and are now part of a bigger, cohesive, and fun weekend of events planned all over town.

This year there will be two Kootenai River Run scholarships of $1,000 each. There will be a third $700 “Excellence in the Community” scholarship donated by Shelman Realty.

The Kootenai River Run partnered with Shelman Realty as a sponsor in 2019 with their inaugural “Shelman Realty Kootenai River Run Scholarship.”

“We’re really excited to have Shelman Realty back as an official sponsor,” said Paul Bonnell, co- race director. “We’re doubly excited to be partnering up with Kootenai River Days as one of their fun events planned for the weekend.”

This year's scholarship award winners will be announced at the race.

“We think this year’s race is going to be our best one yet,” said Jim Cadnum, race director. “We’re already receiving registrants online through www.raceentry.com and we’ve got a large participation of bands along the course, merchant discounts in our race bags and great prizes donated by our incredibly generous local business owners.

This year’s Kootenai River Run will be July 24, starting at 8 a.m. at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. The race has 5K and 10K options. Runners and walkers are welcome. The course starts and ends at the fairgrounds.

Register online at www.raceentry.com or http://kootenairiverrun.com, or grab a race registration form at Mugsy’s, Super 1, Far North or contact Carolyn Testa (208) 290-7039 for information. Race day registration begins at 6:45 A.M. at the fairgrounds.
