Only winners in city's lawsuit were attorneys

| January 20, 2022 1:00 AM

It’s over. In October 2019, a year (2018) after construction of my permitted carport, the newly self-anointed, self-appointed, mini-mayor of Moyie Springs, Steve Economu, council members Terry Johnson, Tim Narvaez, Geoff Hollenbeck, and newly seated (3 minutes prior) Les Love voted to file a lawsuit against me. I was at that meeting and the seven before, yet nothing was asked or said to me before the vote.

My name and address were posted on agendas. The issue was discussed openly at city meetings. Letters were sent demanding I present myself to and answer to the very people who voted to sue me. I requested the attempts to publicly shame, defame and intimidate me stop. The result? A survey was done. One post was 10 inches too close, and one 4 inches too close. Lawsuit filed. A “lis pendens” smearing the title to my property was placed. The issue, now litigation, continued to be openly discussed at meetings. A one-side (theirs) article was placed in the Bonners Ferry Herald in July 2021. The mini-mayor and his posse made a copy-and-paste variance form in September 2021 and requested that I apply. The people suing me are the very people who sit on the panel. None of the setback standards and demands the mini-mayor and council has been applied to others with similar construction.

Mediation resulted in the city dropping the lawsuit and the only winners are the attorneys. I want to thank those who supported me both emotionally and financially.
