The Leland and Beverly Plato family recently donated several items to the museum, including two cases of color slides. It is always a treasure hunt to see what someone might have thought worthy of photographing. This is a slide taken in 1954 of the Moyie Dam.

"Mr. Clarence Griggs of Spokane was hired to design a dam (in 1946) to provide 200 foot head to the power plant (on the Moyie River). Plans were presented to the village of Bonners Ferry in 1947 and the first bond issue of $175,000 was approved for construction of the dam. Bids were received, but in the opinion of Mr. Griggs, were all too high and were rejected. In February 1948 the Village Board authorized Mr. Griggs to proceed with construction under force account. Work proceeded during the summer of 1948 and in October the cost was overrunning the engineer's estimate and another bond issue in the amount of $150,000 was passed. A contract was signed with Mr. Griggs for $148,000 to complete the dam. Another unit, again with department funds, was installed in the plant which brought the capacity to 3000 HP after the dam was completed in early 1950." — History of Boundary County Idaho Vol. I
