BONNERS FERRY — Phat Mo’s brings a different taste to town and showcases Hawaiian, Mexican and Asian-inspired dishes.

Phat Mo’s is a family owned business by married couple Kaden and Melissa Lyman. The manager, Dawson Lyman, is Kaden’s brother.

“We have something different and unique to offer the area,” Kaden said.

The restaurant was named so, partially because Melissa earned the nickname “Mo” on a family trip and because Kaden wants his food to be PHAT, or pretty hot and tempting or, as he calls it hot and tasty.

Phat Mo’s had a soft opening June 7 and since has been cooking up grub for all ages. Whether you want Hawaiian-inspired rice bowls like the Jacki Chickan Bowl, or south-of-the-border inspired We Beefin’ Tacos, your taste buds and your sense of humor will thank you.

The Lymans told the Bonners Ferry Herald that in the two weeks they’ve been open, they already have a line of regulars who are faithfully recommending Phat Mo’s to others.

The Lymans opened Phat Mo’s partially because they were tired of working for other people and are using their past work and business experience and implementing it into their Phat Mo’s brand.

The Lymans don’t describe their food as fusion, but rather as a unique experience for the taste buds.

The location may be smaller, but most customers order their food to go, but the Lymans said that many will stay for the friendly environment. The Lymans plan to add more outdoor seating into the summer.

Kaden said cooking is another way of self-expression. He started cooking in his father’s restaurant, but enjoyed mostly cooking for friends.

Phat Mo’s will be providing more Hawaiian-themed drink options in the future. Phat Mo’s offers military and first responder discounts.

Phat Mo’s is located at 6387 Kootenai St. across from the library. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. To order by phone, call 208-831-6217.
