Richard E. Waterloo

| March 24, 2022 1:00 AM

Richard E. Waterloo passed peacefully in the care of Pacifica Senior Living in Pinehurst, Idaho, with help of Hospice and wonderful staff there on March 16, 2022, with his daughter close to him. He is at peace now and living life as he would like in heaven after a long battle of Alzheimer’s.

Dick, as he went by, was born May 15, 1938, to George and Marcelle Waterloo in Naples, Idaho, at their home. He went to Naples Elementary and then continued to Bonners Ferry High School where he graduated. He spent 1961-63 in the Army in Oklahoma and then honorably discharged and in reserves until 1967.

After Oklahoma, he moved back to Naples and resided on the Waterloo property until Alzheimer’s and had to be moved for extra help first to The Bridge at Sandpoint and then on to Pacifica in Pinehurst. He logged all his life and worked with many companies until he co-owned his own company until he retired.

He had re-married in 1989 and they enjoyed fishing and dancing and a little gambling together, as well as chores around the house. He loved riding his four-wheeler around the property. He spent many hours on his mower and cat, keeping his yard looking like a park.

He always enjoyed hunting of all kinds and was able to watch his grandkids develop the hunting skill. He woke up early one morning recently and stated to his nurse he was going to go bear hunting; always trying to get out of the facilities somehow. He loved his GRIT TV until the end.

Now he will be able to feed the hummingbirds (they would land on his finger), turkeys and watch all the deer, moose and elk whenever he wants. He always had a great story to tell. He will be greatly missed by all family and friends.

Dick is survived by his wife, MaryLee Waterloo, who is in Kenwood, Calif., for care at her daughter’s. He also is survived by his daughter, Lisa Cossairt (Toby) of Pasco, Wash.; grandchildren Ashley Johnson (Clayton) of Pasco and Tyler Cossairt of Pasco; his sister, Louise Raver of Emmett, Idaho; nephew Rob Acker of Boise, Idaho; and stepchildren Erin, Eric, Colleen of California and Clayton of Oregon. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Waterloo; daughter Sue Waterloo; his father and mother, George and Marcelle Waterloo; a brother, George Waterloo; and his grandparents.

As he leaves us behind, he has left us with many great memories and a property to enjoy as he did and will always be in spirit when we are there. We will be able to someday tell him of our adventures there.

As per his request, there will be no service. To leave a message or memory for the family, please go to www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home is caring for the family.
