Police: Body found near Safeway

BONNERS FERRY — A local man was found dead in the wooded area just south of Safeway.

Around 1 p.m. Oct. 16 the Bonners Ferry Police Department received information that four high school students had found what they believed to be a body in a wooded area just south of Safeway grocery store in Bonners Ferry, officials announced in a press release.

Bonners Ferry Police Officers responded and confirmed that there was a deceased adult male at that location.

The area that the body was located was in county jurisdiction, just outside city limits, and the incident was turned over to the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon further investigation, the deceased subject was identified as a 52-year-old Naples resident. It was determined that the man died from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Herald does not identify the names of those who die by suicide.
