Creating the next generation of trade workers proves challenging
The demand for skilled labor in North Idaho is high. Some of the highest projected employment growth in the region is driven by occupations in health care, construction, personal care and services and transportation and material moving. These occupations made up 35% of total job postings in North Idaho over the last year while accounting for 25-30% of regional employment, according to Lisa Grigg, Idaho Department of Labor economist for north-central Idaho.

Coach Alan teaches positivity, real-life lessons
I'd like to report an incident I witnessed after the recent Little League baseball team. I wasn't trying to eavesdrop; I was just sitting there minding my own business when I overheard two of the players on the Bonners Ferry Navy team. They were talking about a team much further south of us. The conversation went something like this:
Life is not black or white, it is a rainbow
Currently, many states have laws that protect LGBTQ, but many including Idaho, do not. Since 2010, “Add the Words” advocates in Idaho have been unsuccessful to add the four words “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the state’s civil rights act.
The tangled web that is woven
In his June 5, 2024, op-ed, former Attorney General and State Supreme Court Justice Jim Jones opines on the alleged failure of Attorney General Raul Labrador in adhering to the Idaho Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys related to client representation. Mr. Jones misreads Idaho Code in determining who and what are the clients of the Attorney General and the advice to come from that office, and thus Mr. Jones lends more confusion to the “tangled mess of litigation” regarding the disposition of the former ITD headquarters.
