BFPD locating 'Harris' sign thief

| September 30, 2024 2:00 PM

BONNERS FERRY — General rule of thumb, if it is not yours, leave it alone, especially political signs.

On Sept. 25 the Bonners Ferry Police Department was dispatched to a theft call on Kaniksu Street, after a Kamala Harris presidential sign was allegedly stolen.

A photo of the individual who stole the political has been circulated by BFPD. This is the second sign stolen from that location since Sept. 20.

If anyone recognizes the truck or the individual in the photograph, BFPD wants to hear from you at (208) 267-2412.
Taking someone else’s property is against the law no matter what the item is, BFPD officials said in a press release.

When the value of a stolen item is under $1,000, the theft is a misdemeanor charge. However, a felony charge of theft is when the value surpasses $1,000.

Idaho Code defines theft as “intent to deprive another of property or to appropriate the same to himself or to a third person, he wrongfully takes, obtains or withholds such property from an owner thereof.”
