Ronald Douglas Zimmerman, 60
Ronald Douglas “Doug” Zimmerman, 60, a resident of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, died at his home Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Doug was born on September 6, 1964, to Ron and Carol Zimmerman in Long Beach, California. He was raised in Big Bear Lake, California, where he developed his love of the mountains, nature, and the preservation of it. This led to his future service in the fire department and the Orange County Search and Rescue.
Once he finished high school, Doug enlisted in the Marine Corps, which was a lifelong dream of his. Growing up, he learned the trade of plumbing from his dad, Ron, and he was able to make a successful career from it. He was a skilled woodworker, who loved building things with his hands and loved riding his motorcycle when he could break away from responsibilities.
Doug retired to Bonners Ferry in 2004, where he was able to spend the rest of his days in his beloved nature. You could find him by the campfire with friends, playing one of his several harmonicas with a big smile on his face.
He is survived by his mother, Carol “Judy;" sisters, Wendy, Denesha, Bobbie and Kristen; brother, Jeff; children, John, Brian and Yvette; grandchildren, Jordan, Mckenzie, Bella and Scarlet; and a great-grandson, Colson; along with several nieces and nephews. His two lifelong friends, fellow Mountain Marauder Tim and riding buddy Monte, also survive.
