Hot rods and hometown vibes

Engines rumbled, oldies music filled the air, and polished chrome shimmered in the sun Saturday as the 26th annual Borders 3 Jamboree car show brought vintage flair to downtown Bonners Ferry. 

Children danced in the streets as attendees strolled among rows of gleaming hot rods and vintage cruisers.  

A handful of vendors lined the sidewalks, and with the weekly Farmers Market in full swing and downtown eateries bustling, the scent of grilled food and sweet treats drifted through the warm summer air, adding to the festive, small-town charm of the event. 

      

Hosted by the Rod Benders Car Club, the annual event draws enthusiasts from across the region. For this year’s show, participants came from as far as 400 miles away, including visitors from Canada.  

“There are cars from all around the country, and we get to meet people and share interesting stories,” attendee Brett Nisson said about why he enjoyed the car show.  

Club president Glenda Poston said the fundraiser doesn’t benefit a specific organization, as the club supports various causes throughout the year. However, the Boundary County Middle School leadership students volunteered during the event, and they will receive a donation.  

 Poston also emphasized how the event supports the local community.  

“If anything, for downtown, it benefits some of the businesses,” she added. 

“They say it’s bigger than the Christmas season,” added show chairman Ken Yount, referring to the boost in foot traffic. 

The Rod Benders Car Club was started in 1999 with a passion to bring community together with a love for classic cars. The club hosts car shows, monthly meetups, events, and more.
