Trump's immigration promises don't match deportation reality

A brief update on the southern border deportations.

According to the Mexico News Daily, a Mexico City news gathering organization, 56,298 Mexican nationals have been deported from the United States in the first 6 months of the Trump administration’s second term.  This averages out to 9,383 per month.

In the 12 months after Title 42 provisions ended in May of 2023, just two years ago, the Biden administration increased deportations under standard U.S. Immigration guidelines, in Title 8, and removed or deported 775,000 unauthorized migrants, which is more than any other fiscal year since 2010. A refresher on Title 42: Title 42 was a public health measure enacted during covid 19 that allowed the U.S. to quickly expel migrants at the U.S -Mexico border. It ended in May of 2023.

This is further evidence, which the American public apparently needs to hear, that Trump’s claims and policies on immigration are largely deceptive if not an abject failure, and that the endless castigation Biden has received over border issues is unfounded and overblown.

Trump had actually stated during the last election cycle that he needed this problem to remain, and not be solved, as an article of contention.

 Trump’s latest attempts to create the appearance of progress on border issues by sending Marines and ICE agents to major cities has received major backlash, resulting in the June 14 protests by 13 million Americans.
