It is kind of funny how every day seems to be a national "something" day. Well, March 6 was named National Dress Day in 2018. That is only seven years ago! Dresses have been worn for hundreds of years.

Today, dresses come in a variety of shapes and designs. Throughout the years, dress designs have changed drastically. On our most important days, we look for the perfect dress made for the occasion. Whether it is prom, an interview, a first date, or a big wedding day.

This dress, in the museum collection, belonged to Eveline Ruhberg's grandmother, Frances Eveline (Hawkins) Cook. On what occasions she wore it, we do not know. The dress is on display in the Hawkins House Exhibit.

Your Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main, Bonners Ferry, Idaho sponsors this column.
