PREP TRACK & FIELD: Hartman, Williams winners at Timberlake Invite

SPIRIT LAKE — Bonners Ferry High junior Hallie Hartman won the shot put (40 feet, 6 inches) and was second in the discus throw (107 feet, 10 inches) to lead the Lady Badgers to a second-place finish out of 12 scoring teams at the Timberlake Invitational on Saturday.

Also in the field events, junior Hana Hartman was second in the shot put (39 feet, 3 inches) and third in the discus (104 feet, 5 inches) while sophomore Eva Willis was second in the long jump with a new personal best leap (15 feet, 2 inches) and third in the high jump (4 feet, 8 inches).

On the track, senior Sydney Beckle was second in the 1 mile run with a new personal best (5:50.71) and third in the 3200-meter run with another new personal best (12:19.49). Senior Brooke Petesch added a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:32.94) and junior Makenna Baisden was third in the 400-meter run with a new season-best time (1:00.14) for Bonners Ferry, which scored 125 points on the day.

On the boys' side, senior Asher Williams won the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10 inches and was second in the triple jump with a new personal best leap of 40 feet, 7 inches for the Badgers, which placed third out of 12 scoring teams with 129.5 points. Junior James Morgen was second in the discus throw (140 feet, 1 inch) and third in the shot put with a new personal best hurl (43 feet, 9.5 inches). Sophomore Riley Beggerly contributed a second-place finish in the long jump (18 feet, 10 inches) and a third-place finish in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches) to round out a spectacular outing for the Badgers in the field events.

On the track, Gio Faroni, Ben Middleton, Conrad Hiatt and Spiro Petras ran to a gold medal in the 4x200 relay (1:35.37) and Beggerly, Middleton, Petras, and Hiatt combined to take silver in the 4x100 relay (45.62). Junior Devin Sceppe was impressive in the hurdles per usual, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles (17.26) and second in the 300-meter hurdles with a new personal best (43.44).

Faroni, a junior, added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.11) for Bonners Ferry, which returns to action today at the District 1 Meet of Champions hosted by Post Falls High.
