PREP TRACK & FIELD: Beckle, Rae lead Bonners Ferry girls to fourth at District 1 Meet of Champions

POST FALLS — Bonners Ferry High senior Sydney Beckle won the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:06.51, a personal best by roughly 13 seconds, senior Helene Rae won the shot put with a mark of 40 feet even, and the Lady Badgers placed fourth out 14 teams at the District 1 Meet of Champions hosted by Post Falls High this past Thursday, May 1.

Beckle added a sixth-place finish in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:34.94, a personal best by nearly nine seconds, and Rae, a College of Idaho commit, added a third-place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 117 feet, 1 inch.

Also contributing top finishes for the Lady Badgers were junior Makenna Baisden, who placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.56 and junior Hallie Hartman, who placed second in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 10 inches. Sophomore Ireland Grady was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.17 and was the third leg of Bonners Ferry's 4x100 relay team, which included of Eva Willis, Taren Bateman and Baisden — the girls placed third with a time of 51.71 seconds.

Junior Hana Hartman was fourth in both the shot put (38 feet, 1 inch) and the discus with a new personal best (115 feet, 11 inches) to round out what was a stellar performance by the Lady Badgers amongst a highly competitive field.

Leading the boys side was junior James Morgen, who produced a third-place finish in the shot put with a new personal best mark of 45 feet, 1 inch, and a fourth-place finish in the discus with a toss of 138 feet, 11 inches. Junior Logan Archibald continues to climb his way up the record books, clearing a new personal best height of 13 feet even in pole vault to grab a silver medal.

Junior Devin Sceppe hurdled his way to fifth-place finish in the both 110-meter hurdles (17.46) and the 300-meter hurdles (44.91) and senior Asher Williams leaped to a mark of 40 feet, 2 inches to place sixth in the triple jump for the Badgers, which placed seventh out of 13 scoring teams.

Bonners Ferry will compete today and tomorrow at the 4A District 1 Championship meet hosted by Timberlake High.
