Second Harvest Food Truck sets May 19 visit

The Rotary Club of Bonners Ferry is helping sponsor a visit by the Second Harvest mobile food truck with a $500 donation. The truck will be at the Boundary County Fairgrounds on May 19 with a drive-through event.

Food will be distributed from 11a.m until 1 p.m. This event is open to anyone who would like help obtaining food. Volunteers are asked to be present by 9:45 a.m.

A total of 295 families were served by the truck during its visit last month. The trucks now bring between 16,000 and 20,000 pounds of food.  Other sponsors include Second Harvest, Trinity Lutheran Church and a Boundary County family who donates funds for a half a truck each year. 

In order to ensure the trucks for July, August and September help is still needed to sponsor trucks.  Families, groups, churches or businesses who would like more information about donating, or those looking for information about the food truck event can call 208-267-2894 and leave a message for the Boundary County Mobile Food Program.
