Every month, at every meeting, the city council and mayor review the monthly expenses and sign checks.
Every year there is a budget workshop where the city council and mayor decide where to spend your money next year and review where your money from the previous year was spent.
Every year an audit of city finances is to be done by an outside auditor. (law)
Every year money is allocated to be spent for that audit.
Every year the city council and mayor signed off on that money.
Every year since October 01, 2016 … there has been no audit.
No paper trails. No records. No check and balance.
Kinda like balancing a checkbook without a bank statement.
Hopefully they’ll do better at tracking the 3.5-MILLION-dollar mega-sewer money.
