BSNF: Track likely to open today
MOYIE SPRINGS — By working around the clock since a Wednesday rockslide derailed a BNSF Railway train and sent the lead locomotive and its crew into the Kootenai River, railroad officials said the track should be back in operation today.

To encourage “Ladies” to enjoy Thursday nights at Mr. C’s on Main Street, a tri-fold drink menu for the table tops was printed in the Herald Print Shop on June 22, 1977; 500 menus were ordered at a cost of $28.50.
Elks Hoop Shoot winners advance to Sandpoint event
On Friday, Dec. 13, 20 Valley View class finalists for the Elks Hoop Shoot gathered to participate in the school competition. The shooters ranged from third grade to fifth grade, both boys and girls. They were full of anticipation and nerves, but everyone performed the best they could in front of parents and peers.

The Bonners Ferry boys basketball team rebounded from a tough loss to Lakeland with a convincing win vs. Riverside High School of Chattaroy, Wash.

BONNERS FERRY — A cold, drizzly day did not deter the crowd of people — especially children bouncing with excitement — from turning out to great Santa and Mrs. Claus when they arrived at Georgia Mae Plaza, not in a sleigh, but in a fire truck on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Holiday shopping fun in the '9B'
BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry is a small town, with many local small businesses, and the people here embrace that small-town feel. Part of the joy of a small town is the support given to one another, and the 9B Ladies on the Loose event — part of the Hometown Holidays on Dec. 7, put on by the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce — allowed the community to do just that.
