Holiday closures

The Landfill, Naples, Paradise Valley and North Junction monitored sites will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 for Christmas Day and Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. All sites will also be closing at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 for Christmas Eve.

Newport defeated Bonners Ferry 49-18 in a nonleague encounter at Bonners Ferry on Saturday, Dec. 14. Hadley Stratton had 17 points for Grizzlies (4-0) to lead all scorers. Regan Byers and Desi Minor led the Badgers with five points.

Lakeland kept ahead of the Badgers during an away game on Thursday, Dec. 5, ending the game 63-45 in their favor.

Lady Badgers defeat Libby

The Lady Badgers defeated the Libby Loggers 36-29 on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Libby. The Badgers were down 11-5 after one quarter but quickly recovered in the second quarter to stay ahead of Libby in the second half.

Badger boys win first game

Cameron Woods and Kyler Rice led a balanced Bonners Ferry scoring attack with 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the boy’s varsity first game of the season on Dec. 3 against Coeur d’Alene Charter. The Badgers led the entire game, winning 62-21.

The Lady Badgers lost to Lakeland 51-45 on Thursday, Dec. 5 during an away game. The Badgers were down 17 in the second half and climbed back and had a chance to tie in the final minute.

George Patrick Kennick, 69

George Patrick Kennick, 69, passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at the Spokane V.A. Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date. George was born on April 18, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn., to George C. and Mary Ann Logan Kennick. George grew up in Minneapolis but spent several summers with his aunt and uncle in Libby, Mont., where his love for the Pacific Northwest grew.
