Committee OKs budget for NIC Sandpoint Center
The state Senate on Friday honored four Idaho servicemen who fought and lost their lives in Afghanistan during 2013. Families of the honorees attended the special ceremony. The men honored are U.S. Army Specialist Thomas P. Murach, 22 of Meridian, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Octavio Herrera, 26 of Caldwell, U.S. Army Specialist Mitchell K. Daehling, 24 who grew up in Pocatello, and our own U.S. Air Force Captain David Lyon, 28 of Sandpoint.

Dance team wins 3A event
The BFHS Dance Team took the 3A grand champion award Feb. 22 at the District 2A/3A district dance competition held at Coeur d'Alene High School. The team placed first in the Prop category, scoring higher than Sandpoint High School. They also took first in the Dance category. The girls qualified in the Hip Hop and Kick categories, so they will be competing in Nampa in the State Dance competition for all four categories. Shaylee Ellson, Shaleyna Higgins, and Mariah Rae received participation medals for the solo category. The state competition is March 21 in Nampa.
