Lucille Horton, 74

Lucille Horton, 74, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Kootenai Medica Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

A Vigil was held at 7 p.m on Sunday evening at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, ID. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3 at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Post Falls, Idaho, with Fr. Basil Caldaroni officiating. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cemetery.

Lucille was born on Aug. 12, 1939, in Newark, N.J. to Cosmo and Juliona (Markevicius) Padovano. She grew up and attended secondary school in Newark, as well as Jersey City State College. This is where she met Sidney Horton, Jr., and they were married on May 14, 1960.

Lucille lived in Cliffwood Beach, N.J. for 25 years. She worked as a sales clerk for J.C. Penney. In 2002 she moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her oldest son’s family.

She is a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church and a member of the 3-C’s Coeur d’Aleers singing group.

She enjoyed her friends, movies, bingo, cards, shopping, reading, puzzles, and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons, Francis “Fr. Gregory” Horton (Cindy) of Moyie Springs, Idaho, Gregory (Tracy) Horton of Middletown, N.J., and Sidney (Suzie) Horton, III of Hazlet, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Dominic Padovano and one sister Celia Lorusso.

Memorial donations can be sent to St. John’s Orthodox Church in Post Falls or Holy Myrrhbearers Orthodox Church in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in lieu of flowers.
