Ready for another tax increase?

| March 28, 2014 9:00 AM

Boundary County residents will be voting in May for a general obligation bond which will spend up to $8 million for construction of a new library/educational complex.

This will create a total increased tax of $72 a year for every $100,000 worth of property value.

Boundary County residents’ property taxes have increased 4.1 percent for 2014, 3.9 percent for 2013 and 4.07 percent for 2012. If this general obligation bond is voted in, you are guaranteed another increase in property taxes along with the probable yearly increase of 3 percent plus when the County Commissioners vote in the yearly budget.

This could equal a total property tax increase of 15 percent or more over a four year period.

Have your wages increased 15 percent in the last four years? I doubt it. This is an expense that the taxpayers of Boundary County cannot afford. This is my opinion. I hope it is yours as well.

Please vote no on the proposed $8 million library bond.
