The Bonners Ferry Herald ran two photos with a caption saying Merle Brown was taking his draft horses, used for horse logging, to Spokane. It was his plan to "pull a passenger wagon from the Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane to the World’s Fair site.”

A jury convicted Srery in 2009 for raping a Coeur d’Alene woman. First District Judge Charles Hosack sentenced Srery to life in prison with parole eligibility after eight years. He died in 2011 in a state prison of natural causes.

Local ensemble performs at Carnegie Hall
