Firefighters thank all for Christmas tree sales

| December 24, 2006 8:00 PM

On behalf of the South Boundary Firefighters, I would like to say thank you. First to Bob Wyman for donating trees to us; and second, to the community for coming out, picking trees and donating so generously.

As we mentioned we were trying to raise money for the volunteers recreation fund. It is tough in today's busy world to find people to donate their time to train and to act at a moments notice in a professional way. Any time we can raise money to help invite the families into the station and bring them closer as a group it is a good thing since we function much better as a team when we know and respect each other and their families.

We did much better than expected with everyone's kind donations so the firefighters decided to put $500 into a fund to help the people we serve in their time of need.

We want to be able to put families up in a motel or buy them a meal or two until they can get help from the Red Cross or friends. The firefighters will try throughout the year to find ways to keep this fund replenished. On behalf of all the South Boundary Firefighters, once again I would like to say thank you to the community for your support.
