Badgers outscore Chewelah for win

The Bonners Ferry Badgers boys hosted Chewelah last Friday in non-league action. It was a close game that eventually sent the visitors packing for the long ride home with a loss of 59-56.

The two teams fought it out to a 17-point tie at the end of the first quarter, with Chewelah pulling ahead in the second quarter and hitting the locker room with a 30-28 lead at half time.

The Badgers played a stronger second half, and though Chewelah managed to once again tie the game at 42 points at the end of the third, the Badgers took the lead to win the game with a total of 59-56.

Leading the Badger scoring effort was A. J. Bennett, who hit seven of 15 from the floor and added a trey on his way to a 15 point game. Also breaking double digits for the Badgers was Josh Hawks, who hit four of eight from the floor to score 11 points.

The Badgers next travel to compete in the Freeman Tournament this week in Freeman, Wash., they'll resume league play on Jan. 4 at Kellogg.
