Attorneys Angela Marshall and Serra Woods, of Marshall Law Office's located on Main Street in downtown Bonners Ferry, were selected as the Dec. 15 recipients of the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce's Welcome Wagon holiday basket.

Angela Marshal moved to Idaho to attend school at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, which she said was a great place to live with her two small children, because it is a small town.

Serra has been a lawyer for "about five years now," and lives in Sandpoint where she mostly practices criminal law, but she also gets into some divorces and other family related law practice.

"This is my second career, but I really am liking it. I love the small town feel," Woods said and added "Everybody is really friendly and very nice. I live in Sandpoint, but I love Bonners Ferry to."

Angela Marshall met and married her husband, Louis Marshall, a Bonner County Deputy Prosecutor, and had a third child while attending law school.

Marshall graduated early and began practicing in Boise at a larger firm specializing in Insurance Defense. Prior to law school she completed a Masters in Business and was the CFO of a non-profit healthcare corporation associated with the University of Iowa for eight years.

"I am a Supreme Court approved mediator and find mediation to be very rewarding," Marshall explained. "It is rewarding to see people reach an agreement because it is so much different than the normal adversarial practice of law. Anytime people can reach an agreement in a legal matter, everyone seems much happier with the outcome. And who better to structure an agreement than those involved."

She added that mediation often saves time and money while also lessening the stress and emotional upheaval of the situation, especially when children are involved.

Marshall believes that because of her background and education in business, she can provide sound legal services to Boundary County businesses. "Due to my background and education, I have a sincere interest in business start-ups, set-up, risk management, and helping them improve the way they run their small and mid-size business," she explained.
