Thanks for successful spaghetti dinner

| November 10, 2006 8:00 PM

To the Editor:

The American Cancer Society's spaghetti dinner that was held on Thursday, Oct. 26 was a great success. People remarked that the food, conversation and cause were all great. We proudly sent the American Cancer Society a check for $972.00 with most of this money benefiting our local region.

A big thank you to Ron "Omar" Erickson and the folks at Chic-n-Chop for hosting this dinner for the past 19 years. We thank Ron for all the prep work and for slaving over heaps of hot spaghetti and meatballs for the entire evening. He even helped supervise the cleanup utilizing his hot-rod vacuum.

Thanks to Irma Clark who can always be counted on to cheerfully serve as our cashier. We also want to thank our wonderful servers: Connie Billingsley, Claudia Erickson and Toni Pennock. Three cheers to an awesome kitchen staff: Kristin Erickson, Omar Erickson, Matt Houston and Anna Sorge. A pat on the back to our roadside sign bearers: Marty Becker and Rockey Burkholder. Valdie Burkholder also deserves recognition for procuring and delivering supplies.

Because all of the food is donated by businesses or individuals, 100 percent of the proceeds of the dinner are sent to the American Cancer Society. We appreciate the generous donations from: Chic-N-Chop, Litehouse and Safeway,

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, we thank the hungry patrons, many of whom come year after year for your support and generosity.

We'll see you on a Thursday in October 2007 for the 20th annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner.
