Irvin Jacob “Bic” Streeter, 88

| October 5, 2006 9:00 PM

Irvin Jacob “Bic” Streeter, 88, passed away Sept. 25, 2006. He was born Feb. 6, 1918 to Emma Coudran and John Byrd Streeter in Athol, Idaho. He married Elizabeth “Toots” Austin in 1946. Bic enjoyed working as a union carpenter the majority of his adult life and traveled throughout the West to various job sites. He was well-known for his quality work and was asked to assist in the building of every dam on the Columbia River, and also on the SR-520 floating bridge in Seattle. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3622, American Legion Post 55, Paradise Valley Grange #389 and United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.

He served in the 41st Infantry in the South Pacific during WWII and when asked would tell funny little stories about his services in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. He and his wife continued to travel after his retirement, spending much of their time RV’ing, dancing and visiting friends and family.

They liked to spend the winter in Quartzite, Ariz. They made their permanent residence in Bonners Ferry, Idaho until the mid-1990s when they moved to Puyallup, Wash. to be near daughter Irvalee and her children. Bic is preceded in death by his beloved Toots by six months, his parents and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by daughter Irvalee (Dan), stepson Charles (Karen), grandsons Brian Ringer (Liz) and Butch Streeter (Andrea), granddaughters Brenda Cote (Christopher), Christine Ringer, and Charlayne Streeter.

He also has a namesake and great grandson, Austin Jacob Cote. Family and friends are comforted by the knowledge that Bic and Toots are happy to be reunited in the afterlife. We are saddened by the loss of a man who was unfailingly polite, gentle, mindful of the feelings of others and always very kind, especially to those less fortunate.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. All are welcome. Arrangements by Tuell-McKee Funeral Home, 2215 Sixth Avenue, Tacoma, Wash. 98403. 253-272-1414.
