Daniel Patrick Krmpotich, 52

Daniel Patrick Krmpotich, 52, a resident of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, passed away, Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Clark Fork, Idaho from a motorcycle accident.

A celebration of Dan's life was held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Twin Rivers Campground near Moyie Springs, Idaho. Memorial services will also be held in Minnesota summer 2007.

Dan was born September 24, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Mike and Pearl Krmpotich. He graduated from Greenway High School, Coleraine, Minnesota in 1972. He went on to Itasca Community College and later graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Economics.

Dan married Mary Ellen "Mare" Dubovich on September 17, 1977 in Chisholm, Minn. and they lived in California prior to settling in Bonners Ferry, Idaho in 1982.

Dan worked for CEDU Schools and Rocky Mountain Academy as a lead wilderness instructor.

He was a certified avalanche and mountaineering instructor and a member of Boundary Search and Rescue.

Most recently Dan played a pivotal role in the development of a highly innovative internal combustion motor.

He found joy and love in his children, the wilderness, skiing, hiking, climbing, camping and a good debate. He volunteered his time for the Democratic Party.

He will be deeply missed by his three children Luka (21), Anya (17), and Micah (12) in Bonners Ferry, Idaho; his sister Mary (Norm) Niskanen, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; the entire Dubovich family and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mare in 2003 and both of his parents, Pearl in 1984 and Mike in 2004.
