Junior Miss grateful for the support

| October 6, 2006 9:00 PM

To the Community:

Back in April of this year if someone had told me I would be honored with the title of Bonners Ferry Junior Miss, I would not have believed him or her. In reality, I probably would have laughed. So when I was named Junior Miss, I was shocked to say the least.

Winning Junior Miss has been my dream since I was seven years old. My mother remembers when I attended my first of many programs that when the show was over I turned to her in all seriousness and promptly informed her that I would be competing when I "grew up."

The program this year was an amazing experience. I got to know 17 other amazing girls from my high school class that, had it not been for Junior Miss, I probably would not be friends with now. We spent weeks learning routines, practicing and refining talents, participating in community service projects, and laughing hysterically. I have been privileged to know these wonderful girls and if at the State Junior Miss pageant I meet girls half as wonderful as that group I will consider myself very blessed.

As I go to Pocatello this Saturday to compete for the State Junior Miss title on October 5, 6 and 7, I would like to send out some extra special thank yous: to my parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members who not only supported me through these last five months, but are also making the trek to Pocatello to cheer me on. To Casey Hampton for her wonderful photography and encouragement. To Emily Sukenik for her help refining the dance I will be performing for the talent portion of the program. To Devon Huggins for her support and encouragement. To Barb Russell for the use of her studio and Ken Yount and Riverside Auto for supplying stylish transportation for parade appearances. To every donor who contributed to the Bonners Ferry Junior Miss program, and finally, each and every member of the community for their kind words, notes and congratulations.

Thank you.
