Eighth Grade Promotion Suggestions

There is a follow-up meeting to discuss and finalize the plan for eighth grade promotion starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Middle School Library.

The promotion ceremony this school year is at 6:30 p.m. June 7. No gifts should be brought to the school this year and there will be no formal reception following the ceremony.

The dress code is more defined this year. Girls may wear either a dress or slacks. Dresses should have no spaghetti straps or be backless unless worn with a cover-up. The length of the dress should be around the knee area. Shoes are to be no higher than 2.5 inches and be appropriate to the dress being worn. Males are to wear a collared shirt and slacks secured by a belt. Again, shoes should be appropriate to the clothes being worn.

The dance following the ceremony will end at 10:30 p.m. Students attending the dance must have permission slip on file a week prior to the ceremony. Students will not be allowed to leave the dance without being picked up by a parent or designated adult. Parents will work with the principal to decorate and provide chaperones. There will be special attention to assure that dancing will be appropriate to the school setting.

We are confident that these changes will provide a more meaningful and safer promotion experience for the students.

If there are questions, please contact the school or attend the next meeting on Tuesday.
