Badger girls take win, Badger boys place second

Poston and Hampton earn individual honors

BONNERS FERRY — If you were picking horses, you'd have to call the rest of the field also-rans.

The 3A defending state champion Timberlake boys just plain dominated the Bonners Ferry Invitational on Saturday, scoring 211.5 points to run away from the field. The host Badgers were a distant second at 82.5

Timberlake seniors Levi Powers and Frank Lagrimanta were named the outstanding field and track athletes, respectively.

The Bonners Ferry girls were equally as impressive, winning with 182.5 points. Seniors Kaitie Poston and Casey Hampton were selected as the top female field and track athletes, respectively.

Poston won both the shot put (42-1) and the discus (147-11 1/2). Hampton won the 800 (2:33.00) and the 1,600 meters (5:55.00).

Powers won the long jump (20-8 1/4) and the triple jump (42-9). He also won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles (41.60) on the track. Lagrimanta defeated the field in both the 1,600 (4:40.00) and 3,200 (9:46.60).
