Grubham's hit lifts St. Maries past Bonners

| April 27, 2007 9:00 PM

On April 16 at St. Maries, A.J. Bennett from Bonners Ferry hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning, but Marc Grubham stroked a two-run, game-winning single in the seventh to lead St. Maries past the Intermountain League-leading Badgers 6-5 on Tuesday.

Bonners Ferry (13-5, 5-1 IML) took a 5-4 lead into the final inning, compliments of Bennett's home run. Dalton Baker led off with double. He moved to third on a single by Cole Schiermeister, who took second when the throw went all the way to the plate.

Grubham, who finished with three RBIs, won the game with his third hit of the day for the Lumberjacks (7-7, 4-1), who host Priest River in a double-header Saturday.
