Meadow Creek-Moyie River Road closure scheduled

| April 27, 2007 9:00 PM

Road closure scheduled for Meadow Creek-Moyie River Road, at this time a notice to proceed with work on site is scheduled for June 1, approximately five weeks from now.

At first traffic control will go into effect, closely followed by the actual closure. Western Federal Lands Highway Division (WFLHD) is considering using a start date of May 15 to insure that the project can be completed this season.

Emergency responders, deliveries, mail delivery, school buses and utilities using Meadow Creek need to stay updated with the contractor as there will be times when they will not be able to use this route. The regular traveling public will have no access at all.

We apologize to those of you who are inconvenienced by this, however, the length of crossing, right of way and environmental issues, and a host of other complications combined make any kind of a detour structure impossible and the only option to a temporary closure is a permanent closure due to imminent failure of the existing structure.

We are extremely fortunate to be getting this job done at a minimal cost to Boundary County. The contract for construction of the Don Olson Memorial Bridge was awarded to C.E. Kramer they will replace the functionally obsolete Rutledge (or Twin Bridges) bridge over the Moyie River about six miles south of Good Grief.

Sincerely,

Jeff Gutshall

Boundary County
