The Boundary County Fair runs from Aug. 14-18, and is offer some new items and events this year. There are also some issues the fair is asking the community to assist them on.

"There will be six or seven food booths outside this year, but the group that originally planned to run the dinning hall canceled on July 18, this is a great fund raising venue so give us a call," Fair Board member Gene Andrews said.

"Lots of people, especially exhibitors, rely on the dinning hall for breakfast and a time to get together for dinner so we hope this works out.

The parade begins at noon on Aug. 18 with check in being at 11 a.m. in the Boundary County Fairgrounds parking lot. Contact Alan Hamilton by leaving him a message at the fair office for more information on the parade and how to register.

A country western concert is scheduled for the evening of Thursday Aug. 16. There is a new Poultry Palace for the chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. A new sidewalk between the Dinning Hall and Exhibit Hall makes access easier. A covered patio area is being set up behind the Memorial Hall adjacent to the food booths for fair goers to relax, eat and meet.

The replacement for the open horse barn that was blown over in the windstorm is in the works but won't be finished before fair time.

"The Fair Royalty is working closely with the Fair Board to implement some of their ideas and suggestions for improvements. The Fair Board is enjoying the energy and creativity of the royal candidates," Andrews said.

"A few of their ideas include more games, more rides, amateur showmanship events, etc., as well as more downtown promotions before the fair."

Andrews explained that the Fair Board added some special areas of responsibility this year for the royalty, beside their typical duties of handing out award ribbons, answering questions and showing people around.

"They will explain events, displays, and developed a plan to personally ensure the Restorium guests enjoy this year's fair," Andrews said. "The royalty all expressed during their interviews that the fair is one of the few community wide events that brings everyone in the community together. I see a future fair theme in there somewhere."think there is a future fair theme there somewhere."
