Lillian Jane Nystrom, 96

Lillian Jane (Peck) Nystrom died on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at Boundary Community Hospital's extended care facility at age 96.

Graveside services were held at Grandview Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Lillian was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Park River, N.D. During high school, she played piano at school and organ at church.

She attended Jamestown College and graduated with a degree in music education in 1932. She taught high school in Crosby, N.D., where she met and married the local sheriff, Art Nystrom, in 1936.

In 1941, Lillian moved with her family to Bonners Ferry. She taught at Naples Elementary School for 20 years.

She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years and taught Sunday school.

Lillian was also an active member of Idaho Farm Bureau serving as historian until retirement. She enjoyed photography, reading, politics and family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband Art Nystrom of 48 years, in 1984.

She is survived by children Marilyn (whose husband Andy died this year) Anderson, Don Nystrom, Carol (Tom) Pickerel, Gail (Haven) Hendricks, Ken (Donna) Nystrom; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Agnes Hjort of Fargo, N.D.

The family has established a memorial in Lillian's name to "Friends of the Restorium," 6619 Kaniksu, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, 83805.
