Local contractor volunteers to Help Head Start

| February 2, 2007 8:00 PM

When Absolute Exterior, Inc., heard of the financial burden faced by the new Boundary County Head Start Center, they knew they had to get involved. The big question was how?

First, we asked each member of our crew individually and asked if they would be willing to donate a day of labor to the cause. The response was unanimous!

Then we contracted Lori Mayfield, Chair, Board of Directors, Friends of North Idaho Head Start to share the company's intentions and Jo Jo Baker of Blue Sky Broadcasting to get the word out.

We believe our children are the future, and we are confident that the remaining fundraising needed to bring the project to reality can be achieved.

Other local business, families, the county, USDA and the Kootenai Tribe have contributed in a huge way. It's time for the rest of us to step up and get involved.

There is a way for every individual to help in one way or another and make this happen.

Our children need us and deserve what Head Start has to offer them.

My mother was an educator in Bonners Ferry for many years and the cause just hit home.

I am proud to contribute both as a business owner and individual, and am equally proud of the guys on my crew for stepping up and giving back. Rick Deaver, Denny Cushman, Dain Bell, Scott Cooper and Jacob Cooper, are not just first rate employees, but first rate citizens as well!

Jo Jo Baker will host (weather permitting) a live broadcast on Feb. 24 at 12:15 p.m. on KBFI 1450 AM from the Sandpoint station. Lori Mayfield is scheduled to be a guest.

All are encouraged to call in and pledge what they can.

If you miss the radio show, please feel free to contact Lori direct at (208) 665-1666.

Sincerely,

Chris Binnall
