Badger girls shut down Timberlake
The Bonners Ferry Badger girls defense shut down the visiting Timberlake Tigers Saturday night and walked away with a 53-24 league win.
Becky Lowther led the Badger effort, scoring 14, and teammate Camille Robertson was the only other player in the game to break into double digits, putting up 13 points.
Ashley Porter led the Timberlake effort with seven points.
The Badgers finished the opening quarter ahead by a bucket, 7-5, and their offense sparked in the second quarter, led by Robertson with seven points, as they out-shot Timberlake 13-4 to go into the locker room with a 20-9 half-time lead.
The Badger defense held Timberlake to 15 points in the second half, while scoring 33 points on offense.
"We were able to get inside," Badger coach Travis Hinthorn said.
"That's something we've been working on."
The win puts the Badger girls at 7-7 on the season and 2-1 in league play.
The girls host Clark Fork Saturday.
