Alice (Wombacher) Peters was born Sept. 22, 1918, at the homestead in Haxby, Mont., to Ray and Blanche Wombacher. In 1923, the family moved to the Bonners Ferry area.

Her schooling began at Moravia, then on to the Southside Grade School and Bonners Ferry High School, graduating in 1936. Later she graduated from Northwestern Business College in Spokane, Washington. After working a short time in Sandpoint as assistant to the Superintendent of Schools, she moved to Washington DC, where she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service.

In 1950 she married Fremont (Monte) Peters. San Mateo, San Diego and Anaheim were home base for them.

Retirement days found them enjoying many cruises around the world. Also they bought a motor home and toured throughout the United States visiting all 50 states, Mexico and Canada.

Alice passed away Nov. 27, 2006, in San Diego, Calif. She is survived by her son Steve and grandson Ryan; her daughter Kathleen, son in law Leonard Powell and grandchildren Norrin, Marketta and Lenora; and sister Clara Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her husband Monte and son Gary; her parents Ray and Blanche Wombacher; brothers Joe (former mayor of Bonners Ferry) and Ralph; sisters Helen Scott and Elaine Funkhouser.
