Badgers pin Spartans for IML, lose to Lake City

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, the Bonners Ferry Badgers wrestling team won one and lost one in a dual with the Lake City Thunder Wolves and Priest River Spartans at home. As the Badgers went up against the Spartans, it was a tense match until Badger Jared Stone and C.Forest PR fought it out right down to the wire in the 275 weight class. With only 20 seconds remaining in the last match of the night between the Spartans and Badgers, Stone managed to make the pin.

Bonners Ferry Coach, Conrad Garner said the Lake City Timber Wolves were too much to handle by the Badgers or Spartans in last Tuesday's non-league wrestling action in Bonners Ferry.

"But the Badgers did squeak by Priest River for a win of 42-41, achieving a second intermountain wrestling league victory."

The JV matches kicked off the evening with Mitshel Pluid, Leo Vandenberg and Josh Carpenter. Each had two matches, but all were lost to pins.

Pins were scored by Mich Solt, Dane Swisher, 2 by Kenny Swift, Joey Lewis and Jared Stone. Jozeph Musial reinjured his knee in the L. C. matches.

The Badgers host a dual on Jan. 23 against Libby, Mont and Sandpoint at 4:30, and this weekend, Jan. 19-20, the team travels to Idaho Falls for a Tiger/Grizzly tourney, and next weekend, Jan. 26-27, to the Kellogg tourney.
