Comp Plan review to proceed soon

Even though county civil attorney John Topp is facing a rougher road to recovery following back surgery and isn't able to assist commissioners in person as he has in the past, commission chair Ron Smith said Topp's work for the county continues.
"John is having a tough time, but he's still doing his best for the county," Smith said Tuesday. "We're doing all we can to lighten his load, but when we have a question that has to be answered, he's still there for us."
While no definite timeline has been set, Smith said Topp has continued his review of the proposed Boundary County Comprehensive Plan to ensure it meets the requirements of state code, and he expects that their review will resume soon.
"When John is finished and gives us his recommendations, we'll get back to it," Smith said.
Once complete, the Boundary County Comprehensive Plan will form the "road map" of county land use planning, establishing goals and objectives to form the basis of county land use law. Over 80 county citizens spent nearly a year developing the plan.
Once Topp finishes his review, commissioners will schedule workshops to complete their work, and before adoption the results will be published and additional public hearings will be held.
